Tantalum Sleeves for Thermowells
Tantalum Sheath (Sleeve/Jacket), for Thermowells
In industrial processes, thermowells are primarily used to protect temperature sensors from harsh conditions such as high temperature, high pressure, and strong corrosion. Their standard material is 304/316L stainless steel, which meets the requirements of most industrial applications.
For corrosive applications such as strong acids, tantalum is the material of choice due to its superior corrosion resistance. However, tantalum is expensive and can be cost-prohibitive. The common solution is to use a 304/316L thermowell fitted with a tantalum sleeve. The tantalum sleeve typically covers the wetted parts of the thermowell, allowing for more accurate temperature measurement while effectively reducing equipment maintenance costs.
WINNERS tantalum sleeves are manufactured from high-purity tantalum, offering excellent corrosion resistance and high-temperature performance. We typically produce them according to customer-supplied drawings, and we also offer free drawing design services. If you require a complete assembly (flanged thermowell + tantalum sleeve), we can supply that as well.
Application Areas of Tantalum Sleeves/Jackets
Tantalum sleeves are used to protect thermowells from corrosion in corrosive processes (e.g., chlorine, bromine, hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, and sulfuric acid). They are suitable for demanding industrial applications such as pharmaceutical, chemical plants, and petrochemical industries.
