The texture of tantalum rods is very hard, with a hardness of 6-6.5. Tantalum is a rare metal with a steel-gray luster and is a very stable chemical element. Tantalum is malleable and can be drawn into filaments or made into thin foils. Its thermal expansion coefficient is very small, expanding only 666 parts per million per degree Celsius.
